10 moves that busted up fantasy draft boards | Daily Fantasy Sports

With the possible exception of Kenny Powers? momentous return to baseball when he took the rubber in Mexico last year, no sports comeback in recent memory has made a bigger splash around the country than the National Football League?s return from its work stoppage.? In just a few short hours, hostile words like lockout and Kessler were replaced by whimsical phrases such as signing bonus and guaranteed money.

As of this past Tuesday, the NFL has officially returned.

However, amid the excitement and hope that accompany the flurry of transactions that take place during this hectic time period, the concrete foundations of many a preseason fantasy draft board have been shattered at their very cores.

High-profile players have been switching teams faster than the aforementioned country of Mexico?s tap water will slice through your digestive system.? But before we get ahead of ourselves, we need to break down what these moves mean to fantasy owners?

1.??? DeAngelo Williams re-signs with the Panthers: Giving $21 million in guaranteed money to a 28-year-old back when you already have Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson on your roster is just plain stupid.? D-Will?s return to an offense that will be led a majority of the time by rookie Cam Newton has dropped his stock significantly.? He?s no longer an RB1 worthy of an early-round pick.? This offense is going to struggle.

2.??? Speaking of which: The Williams deal makes Johnny Stew a flex option/RB4.? A bad offense and a lack of carries isn?t exactly the stuff fantasy dreams are made of.? As for Goodson, he?s headed for waivers.

3.??? Sidney to Seattle: Opposite Big Mike Williams, these two could form quite the wide receiver duo?assuming Williams shows up in shape and Rice isn?t a one-hit wonder.? Consider the newest member of the Seahawks a WR2, but stay fluid on this one.? A lot will depend on whether or not Tarvaris Jackson wins the quarterback battle during camp, as well as whether or not he looks good doing it.

4.??? Hasselbeck joins the Titans: H-U-G-E for Chris Johnson and Kenny Britt.? Nothing against Jake Locker, but no rookie is ready to step in after what the lockout did to the NFL offseason.? Hasselbeck has enough left in the tank to help this offense move the sticks, which makes Johnson (assuming he ends his holdout) a top-three back and Britt (assuming he doesn?t get arrested again) a WR2.

5.??? Donny Mac?s on the move again: McNabb to the Vikings will help Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin just like Hasselbeck to the Titans will help Johnson and Britt.? All Day remains a top-5 lock while Harvin currently checks in as a WR2 with upside.? However, we?d like to see Minnesota add another wideout.? Harvin is a slot guy and he would benefit greatly from a fast receiver lining up on the outside.? James Jones, anyone?

6.??? Reggie Bush is moving to another awesome city: He played his high school ball in San Diego, spent his college days in Los Angeles, began his pro career in New Orleans and is now going to settle down in Miami.? Screw this guy and his life that is so much better than mine.? As for fantasy (as if his life wasn?t already enough of one), Bush brings mediocre value to the table.? He?s had trouble staying healthy and can?t pound the ball between the tackles like a true NFL running back.? Don?t forget, the Dolphins spent a second-round pick on former Kansas State standout Daniel Thomas.

7.??? Kolb goes to the Cardinals in a shocker: Actually, this was anything but a shocker, but it?s a move that solidifies Pro Bowl wideout Larry Fitzgerald as a top-five WR heading into draft day.? You may think Kolb is overrated, but if Fitz could catch 90 passes with Derek Anderson, Max Hall and John Skelton at quarterback, he can make a run at 100 with Kolb.? Speaking of Kolb, consider him a QB2 with upside.? Garbage time stats could be in full effect here.

8.??? @Ochocinco: The undisputed king of social media, Chad Ochocinco has finally gotten his wish:? he?s headed to New England to play football for Bill Belichick and the Patriots.? I?ll admit, Ocho was on my bust list heading into free agency, but times they are a-changin?.? Disregard descriptors like slow, over the hill and?immature.? Instead, focus on words like committed and Tom Brady.? I?d bet 85 gives us 1,100+ yards and 9+ touchdowns if he stays healthy.

9.??? Steve Smith stays put: Sometimes the moves that don?t happen are just as important as the ones that do.? In this case, wide receiver Steve Smith (the Carolina version) won?t be traded like many of us expected and will remain with the Panthers.? This is bad news for anyone (like myself) who got excited about the possibility of a Jay Cutler-Steve Smith or Philip Rivers-Steve Smith connection.? With the inexperienced and raw Cam Newton at quarterback, we won?t be expecting much this season.? Especially when opposing defenses roll safety help over the top and double Smith like they have been for the past two years.

10.??? A D/ST sleeper continues to get better: You heard it hear first:? The Houston Texans D/ST is fantasy relevant this season.? That?s right, I said it.? The organization has brought in Wade Phillips to run the defense, drafted defensive end J.J. Watt (Wisconsin), outside linebacker Brooks Reed (Arizona) and cornerback Brandon Harris (Miami) this past April and just signed ultra-talented yet underrated cornerback Johnathan Joseph via free agency Thursday night.? Circle this team on your cheat sheets.
