Redskins TE Chris Cooley out a couple more weeks - Fantasy Sports

Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley dealt with and played through the pain of a torn meniscus for all of the 2010 season. Although he underwent surgery in January to fix it, he's still fighting it. And his knee doesn't seem to be getting any better. Cooley hasn't practiced much in training camp and, according to head coach Mike Shanahan, we shouldn't expect to see him on the field for at least a little while longer.
"He'll miss, I believe, a couple of weeks," Shanahan said of Cooley on Friday night. "We'll keep our fingers crossed that he'll be back. When will it be? I can't tell you for sure."
Shanahan said Cooley has had his knee drained "a few times."

FANTASY ANALYSIS: Oy vey. We heard last week that Cooley's knee was still bothering him, but that report didn't seem as negative as this one. The Redskins' first regular-season game is 30 days away, and I would say that Cooley's status for that game seems very questionable right now. He won't be on the field for at least 14 more days and that's if he doesn't run into any setbacks. Cooley, when healthy, can be a TE1. But he now carries a big red flag with him, and I would stay far away from him in drafts. Fred Davis would replace him in the starting lineup. He's a decent sleeper at that position. But as I'm contractually obligated to point out whenever talking about a Redskins receiver, just keep in mind that John Beck or Rex Grossman will be throwing the ball to him.
