Also limits the amount employers can exclude from taxes for health care benefits for those making over $ 250,000

-ON IMMIGRATION

OBAMA

CLINTON
Voted for use of military force in Iraq, but now says she would have voted differently ?if we knew then what we know now.? Supports de-authorizing the war. Voted for war spending bill that would have withdrawn most U.S. troops by March 2008. Opposed Bush plan to increase the number of American troops in Iraq. Supports a phased redeployment

-ON SOCIAL SECURITY

OBAMA
Strongly opposed to privatizing Social Security. Believes that the first place to look for ways to strengthen Social Security is the payroll tax system. Currently, the Social Security payroll tax applies to only the first $ 97,500 a worker earns; Obama supports increasing the maximum amount of earnings covered by Social Security. Would work with Congress to choose a payroll tax reform package that will keep Social Security solvent for at least the next half century.

CLINTON
Opposes all efforts to privatize Social Security. Has stated her plan for Social Security is fiscal responsibility first, and then deal with any long-term challenges. Would support the creation of a bipartisan commission.

i hope this helps you a lot. Good day!

How to spot a bad QROPS advisor | Free Tax Relief Help

The world is full of world finance experts ready to take a pension saver?s money to help with setting up a qualifying recognised overseas pension scheme.

Although the majority financial advisers are regulated and reputable, some sharks are swimming in the QROPS market, so here are some tell tale signs on how to spot themQROPS

: up front ? Financial advisers don't ask for money before they have undertaken any work. If your confidant is asking for money, then that's the first danger sign that something is wrong.

Limited Money QROPS or investment options ? A ?whole of market ? advisor has no restriction on products or suppliers. Somebody pushing a single supplier or jurisdiction likely has some monetary reason to do so that might not be in the best interests of the client. The chance is they are ignoring your financial circumstances to squish your pension in to a product that suits them best, when the service should be fining the best product to fit the customer.

Looking for a big kill ? If an advisor tells you a pension transfer is too small to think about a pension, then your adviser is trawling the marketplace for gigantic commissions. Lately, one or two schemes targeted particularly at stockholders with QROPS funds priced at less ?pension10,000 have hit the market.

Hidden commissions ? This breaks most regulator?s rules about transparent transactions. If you do not know the charges up front and have to ask, then bin the confidant because they are working outside of the law.

Lack of 0 expertise ? Pro QROPS offshore advisers need support staff that research solutions for pension and investment issues for clients. Ask your advisor for proof of latest successful tax transfers.

QROPS rule breaking ? Every QROPS has to meet the same rules for a minimum of the 1st 5 years the QROPS saver is a UK non-resident. Any deals that sound too good to be true potentially are.

Don't forget that if a confidant breaks the rules, it's the pension saver who pays the price in fines and other penalties imposed by Hm Cash and Customs.

Gaddafi family members flee to Algeria without him (Reuters)

TRIPOLI (Reuters) ? The wife of Muammar Gaddafi and three of his children took refuge in Algeria on Monday but the whereabouts of the former strongman himself remained a mystery a week after rebels drove him from power.

Algeria's Foreign Ministry said Gaddafi's wife Safia, his daughter Aisha and his sons Hannibal and Mohammed had entered Algeria on Monday morning.

The development threatened to create a diplomatic rift just as the rebel National Transitional Council (NTC) worked to consolidate its position as Libya's new government.

An NTC spokesman accused Algeria, Libya's western neighbor, of an act of aggression and said the council would seek to extradite the Gaddafis.

A senior rebel officer also said Gaddafi's son Khamis, a feared military commander, had been killed in a clash outside of Tripoli. The report could not be independently confirmed.

Meanwhile rebel forces converged on Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte from east and west, intent on seizing one of his last bastions of support either by force or by negotiation.

Muammar Gaddafi's whereabouts have not been known since Tripoli fell to his foes and his 42-year-old rule collapsed a week ago after a six-month uprising backed by the West and several Arab nations.

Algeria's acceptance of Gaddafi's wife and offspring angered the rebel leadership, who want him and his entourage to face justice for years of repressive rule and who fear that he could orchestrate a new insurgency unless he is captured.

"We have promised to provide a just trial to all those criminals and therefore we consider this an act of aggression," spokesman Mahmoud Shamman told Reuters. "We are warning anybody not to shelter Gaddafi and his sons. We are going after them...to find them and arrest them."

NTC chairman Mustafa Abdel Jalil called on the Algerian government -- which has not recognized the council as Libya's legitimate authority -- to cooperate with it and hand over any of Gaddafi's sons who is on its wanted list.

Asked if he knew where Gaddafi senior was, he told al- Jazeera TV: "If we knew where Gaddafi was now our revolutionaries would be on their way to capture him. We have no information that Muammar Gaddafi is in Libya or in any other place."

Earlier on Monday, Jalil appealed to NATO to keep up its air campaign in support of the rebels, saying Gaddafi was still a threat.

NATO warplanes have struck at Sirte, on the Mediterranean coast, in recent days and Britain said its aircraft also attacked artillery units of Gaddafi forces near Sidra, west of the oil town of Ras Lanuf.

LAST STAND AT SIRTE?

Whether or not Gaddafi is hiding in Sirte to make a last stand, the city would be a strategic and symbolic prize for Libya's new rulers as they tighten their grip on the vast North African country.

Rebel forces were advancing toward Sirte from east and west even as contacts continued for its surrender. Their eastern column had pushed past the village of Bin Jawad and secured the Nawfaliya junction By Monday.

Marwan Mustapha, an ambulance worker at Nawfaliya, said: "God willing, the rebels will enter the city without bloodshed and the negotiations will have succeeded. But if they have to enter by force, there will be blood."

In the desert to the south, Gaddafi loyalists were also holding out, notably in the city of Sabha.

But the death of Gaddafi's son Khamis, if confirmed, would be a serious blow to any chance of a military fight back.

Colonel Al-Mahdi Al-Haragi, chief of the rebels' Tripoli Brigade, said he had confirmation that Khamis was badly wounded in a clash near Ben Walid. He was taken to hospital but died and was buried in the area, Al-Haragi said.

Rebel military spokesman Colonel Ahmed Bani told Al Arabiya TV that the rebels also believed Gaddafi's intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senussi was killed on Saturday along with Khamis,

"We have almost certain information that Khamis Gaddafi and Abdullah al-Senussi were killed on Saturday by a unit of the national liberation army during clashes in Tarhouna (90 km southeast of Tripoli)," Bani said.

A U.S. official said Washington could not independently confirm Khamis' death but similar information was being received from "reliable sources."

Khamis has already been reported killed twice during the uprising only to re-emerge.

Earlier on Monday, prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo of the International Criminal Court had said he may apply for an arrest warrant for Khamis.

Human Rights Watch said members of the Khamis Brigade, which he commanded, appeared to have carried out summary executions of prisoners whose bodies were found in a warehouse in Tripoli.

The Hague-based ICC has already approved arrest warrants for Muammar Gaddafi, his son Saif al-Islam, and Senussi on charges of crimes against humanity.

A GOOD EID

The NTC, now recognized as Libya's legitimate authority by more than 40 nations, was working to establish control in Tripoli after days of chaos and clashes with remaining Gaddafi loyalists.

The council, whose leaders plan to move to Tripoli from their Benghazi headquarters this week, is trying to impose security, restore basic services and revive the economy.

Gunfire echoed occasionally across the city but aid agencies reported medical and other services were beginning to function again.

Residents, hit by shortages of food, fuel and water, ventured out to shop amid the stink of garbage before the Eid al-Fitr festival after the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

"Thank God this Eid has a special flavor. This Eid we have freedom," said Adel Kashad, 47, an oil firm computer specialist who was at a vegetable market. "Libya has a new dawn."

Universal Throws Away McG's Ouija

ouija board game movie

The first of several Hasbro and Milton Bradley board game properties-turned-movies, Battleship, will arrive in theaters next summer. However, Universal is already being more cautious about exactly which game-based film projects it decides to move forward with.

Gore Verbinski?s long-in-development Clue movie was dropped by Universal a while back ? and now the studio has also opted to not produce the Ouija movie being developed by director McG (Terminator: Salvation) and producer Michael Bay.

Vulture is reporting that the Hasbro project has already been offered to, but dismissed, by Paramount Pictures, which has made a bundle off Bay and Hasbro?s Transformers movies. There?s no word from the site about what the exact proposed budget for the Ouija adaptation, but it was apparently considerable enough ($100-150 million, perhaps) to scare off Universal. That?s actually a relatively easy task right now, given the studio?s recent (costly) failed investment in?Cowboys & Aliens.

McG was fashioning the Ouija film as an effects-driven, family-oriented fantasy adventure, along the lines of Jumanji and The Mummy. Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes) penned the most recent draft of the script, which was also worked on by Evan Spiliotopoulos (Snow White and the Huntsman) ? as well as TRON: Legacy screenwriting duo Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis ? at different points during its development.

Battleship trailer

Universal will unveil 'Battleship' in 2012

Battleship is definitely a costly (re: $200 million) gamble for Universal, but also one that seems like a safer bet than Ouija would have been. The Battleship teaser essentially made the film look like a new installment in the Transformers series ? with a new cast and cloaked alien spaceships instead of giant CGI robots. In other words, the movie is being sold as the sort of flashy and mindlessly-fun flick that people often flock to during the summer movie season.

Board game projects like the new Clue, Ouija, and Ridley Scott?s Monopoly movie now seem less likely to be fast-tracked by Universal or anyone else ? if only because studios are simply waiting to see whether or not Battleship turns a tidy profit, before they start investing loads of cash into other expensive game-based titles like Candyland or Monsterpocalypse.

Most of these board game movies (like Ouija) seemingly have little-to-nothing to do with their inspiration; essentially, they?re just looking to benefit from brand name recognition. Include a couple of plot details that tie the film back into the original game (see: naval warfare in Battleship) and you?ve got what now passes for an ?adaptation.? So it?s hard to be too invested in any of these films, unless there is top notch talent working behind-the-scenes ? and that wasn?t really the case with Ouija.

We will keep an eye on Ouija and let you know if another studio decides to pick the project up.

East Coasters Unprepared For Earthquake

Tuesday's earthquake demonstrated East Coast residents were not prepared. When the ground started shaking, many evacuated buildings. But in California, where quakes are common, disaster preparedness officials say that's just about the worst thing you can do.

Copyright ? 2011 National Public Radio?. For personal, noncommercial use only. See Terms of Use. For other uses, prior permission required.

MELISSA BLOCK, host: Along the East Coast, engineers are inspecting building for damage after yesterday's 5.8 magnitude earthquake. Here in Washington, schools were closed, along with a few government offices.

Yesterday's quake demonstrated a few things. First, although rare, earthquakes do strike the East Coast and second, when they do, many people aren't sure what to do.

NPR's Jeff Brady reports that authorities could look west for guidance on how to prepare people for the next quake.

JEFF BRADY: When the ground started shaking, a lot of people did what probate judge John Martinelli did at the City Hall in Providence, Rhode Island.

JOHN MARTINELLI: Desks were moving and the building was visibly moving, so we all got out of there.

BRADY: If a building seems like it might be unsafe, evacuating is a natural reaction, but Kelly Huston says, in an earthquake, that's the wrong reaction. He's an assistant secretary with the California Emergency Management Agency.

KELLY HUSTON: So think about it. If the building's starting to shake and you go running out the front door, that big, brick fa?ade is throwing bricks off the building. You're going to get hit by one of those bricks or, even worse, you may get hit by a huge shard of glass from a plate glass window that's ruptured. So evacuating is actually one of the most unsafe things you can do in an earthquake.

BRADY: Huston says his office has echoed one message over and over to residents in California where earthquakes are common. Drop, cover and hold on.

HUSTON: When you feel the ground shaking, the first thing you should do is drop to the ground, cover your head or go under something sturdy and hold on there until the shaking stops.

BRADY: Huston says the good news about Tuesday's quake is that it was big enough to get people's attention, but not so big that it did major damage. He says quakes like this become teachable moments because they prompt people to think about what they will do when the next earthquake hits.

There are some other lessons to be taken from this earthquake; for example, having a plan in case cell phones don't work. A lot of customers found their service was down for hours as circuits were overwhelmed with calls.

Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate says this was a problem for his family Tuesday.

CRAIG FUGATE: My wife and mother-in-law were here in the District. They were at a tourist attraction.

BRADY: Like most everyone else, Fugate's wife couldn't call to say she was OK, so she sent him a text message.

FUGATE: Then I turned around and put an update on our Facebook page to let our family know across the area that she and my mother-in-law were OK.

BRADY: Fugate says that was his family's backup plan for communicating with each other in case cell phones didn't work, but some mobile phone customers say it was difficult to even get text messages through.

Emergency preparedness officials say the good thing about text messages is most services will try to send the message multiple times, so even if the network is busy the first time, the text likely will go through on a subsequent attempt.

Certain foods may be the best medicine for lowering 'bad' cholesterol

For patients with high levels of so-called bad cholesterol, doctors routinely reach for two remedies: cholesterol-lowering statin drugs and a diet that cuts out foods high in saturated fat, such as ice cream, red meat and butter.

But new research has found that when it comes to lowering artery-clogging cholesterol, what you eat may be more important than what you don't eat.

Released online Tuesday in the Journal of the American Medical Assn., the study found that incorporating several cholesterol-lowering foods ? such as soy protein and nuts ? into a diet can reduce bad cholesterol far more effectively than a diet low in saturated fat.

In fact, the authors assert, levels of LDL, the "bad" cholesterol, can drop to half that seen by many patients who take statins, sold under such names as Lipitor, Crestor or Zocor. That could drive down a person's risk of fatal heart attack or stroke by 10%, the authors suggested.

But this doesn't mean that people on statins should go dump their drugs for tofu, said Cleveland Clinic cardiologist Dr. Steve Nissen, who was not involved in the study. Dietary changes do not have nearly the research track record that statins have racked up for heart attack prevention, he said.

"Patients don't want to take the medications, and I'm afraid that if you tell them there's a diet that works just as well, then they'll do that instead," he said.

Nearly 1 in 6 Americans has a high overall cholesterol level, which makes a person nearly twice as likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke as someone whose total cholesterol falls into a healthy range. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol is one component of this overall number.

Last year, statin and other lipid-regulating drugs were the nation's most commonly prescribed medications, with more than 355 million prescriptions dispensed, according to the healthcare information firm IMS Health.

The multi-center Canadian study tested a diet that contained a portfolio of cholesterol-fighting foods such as soy protein, nuts, "sticky" fiber such as that found in oats and barley, and plant sterols. Subjects were instructed to eat a handful of nuts such as almonds or walnuts every day, and to substitute milk and meats with soy and tofu products as much as possible.

One of the most potent cholesterol-busters in that mix, plant sterols (sometimes called stanols), occurs in small amounts in many grains, nuts, vegetables, legumes and fruits and also can be added to foods or taken as a dietary supplement. Plant sterols mimic LDL cholesterol particles in the gut, preventing the absorption of those particles so that they pass through the body and are disposed of as waste.

The 345 subjects in the study, which was coordinated by a team based at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, all suffered high cholesterol levels and were considered at elevated risk of coronary heart disease. The subjects each followed one of three diets: an "intensive portfolio" diet, a "routine portfolio" diet, or a high-fiber, low-saturated-fat diet rich in produce and whole grains, which is commonly recommended to those who have had had a heart attack or need to lower their cholesterol.

Among the 267 subjects who completed the trial, all three groups lost roughly an equal amount of weight ? between about 2 pounds 10 ounces and 3 pounds 12 ounces ? after six months. But those on one of the portfolio diets ? intensive or routine ? saw their LDL cholesterol levels decline between 13.1% and 13.8% after six months.

Subjects on the low-saturated-fat diet had, on average, a 3% reduction in their LDL cholesterol in the same period.

Dr. Walter Willett, a nutrition and health expert at Harvard University's School of Public Health who was not involved in the study, said that the trial was "nicely done" and that it underscored the fact that "just focusing on reducing saturated and total fat is not the most effective diet for reducing heart disease risk factors or heart disease itself."

The authors acknowledged that the components in the portfolio diet were well-known for their cholesterol-busting properties. But their research is the first to test the relative effects of those dietary interventions in a real-world comparison, and to gauge how readily people can understand and implement such a diet in everyday life.

It was pretty easily done, the scientists found. Subjects in the intensive group got as many as seven sessions of instruction and guidance, while those in the routine group got one 60-minute session plus a 40-minute refresher ? but both groups realized roughly equal benefits.

The researchers also found that the greater a subject's adherence to the portfolio diet, the more dramatic, on average, was the LDL cholesterol reduction.

But Cleveland Clinic's Nissen stressed that researchers did not directly measure rates of coronary heart disease ? just LDL cholesterol ? so the health effects of the portfolio diet are not yet clear.

Asian stock markets lower amid US recession fears

(AP) ? Asian stocks gave up early gains and fell Monday as fears that the U.S. is slipping back into recession caused investors to dump riskier assets.

Brent crude fell to near $106 a barrel in Asia as Libyan rebels entered Tripoli, boosting hopes the OPEC nation's oil exports could resume soon. The dollar was stronger against the yen and the euro.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.8 percent to 19,242.88 and South Korea's Kospi index dropped 1.2 percent to 1,722.61. Benchmarks in Taiwan, Singapore, mainland China and Indonesia were also lower.

Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.2 percent to 8,733.83 amid hopes that the country's monetary authorities would turn to intervention if the yen strengthens further against the dollar.

Japan intervened in currency markets earlier this month to try to reverse the yen's climb. The decision to sell the yen and buy the dollar worked initially, sending the greenback toward 80 yen. But the dollar has been weighed down by the dimming outlook for U.S. economy and is back down to mid 76-yen levels.

Investors will be on edge this week as they scrutinize new data on the U.S. economy. But the most anticipated event will be a speech by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke at a retreat in Wyoming, sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

The Fed pledged earlier this month to keep interest rates super-low through mid-2013. Investors hope Bernanke will announce, or at least preview, further steps to help the economy, including a third round of bond purchases known as quantitative easing to help the economy.

"I think Ben Bernanke's meeting in Jackson Hole will be very much in focus here" said Tom Kaan, head of equity sales at Louis Capital Markets in Hong Kong. The consensus is that a third round of quantitative easing will come in some form, he said.

Asian markets were the first to open after the developments in Libya, with the apparent crumbling of Moammar Gadhafi's regime after rebels entered the capital of Tripoli on Sunday. Oil prices are expected to fall if the situation can quickly stabilize.

Libya used to export about 1.5 million barrels of oil a day, but production had all but ground to a halt in recent months as rebels battled to overthrow Gadhafi.

Stocks in the U.S. fell Friday to end a fourth straight week in the red, amid fears the U.S. economy is headed toward another recession. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 172.93 points, or 1.6 percent, to close at 10,817.65. Since July 21, the Dow has fallen about 15 percent.

The dollar hit a new post-World War II low against the Japanese yen Friday as investors flocked toward safety. The dollar fell as low as 75.94 yen in New York before rebounding to 76.48 later. On Monday, the dollar rose to 76.73 yen.

The euro, meanwhile, fell to $1.4367 from $1.4387 on Friday.

Benchmark oil for September delivery was up 19 cents to $82.45 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Crude fell 12 cents to settle at $82.26 on Friday.

In London, Brent crude for October delivery was down $2.37 per barrel to $106.25 on the ICE Futures exchange.

Valuable Weight Loss Advice ? Important Things ... - Health & Fitness

Many of us seek to bring our weight down to healthy levels. We all want a body that?s not plagued with diseases or slowed down by fats. We don?t want to keep on wearing oversized shirts and pants that only make us feel ugly. But apart from the aesthetics, the main reason why we want to lose weight is to stay healthy and live long enough to spend time with family and friends.

If you?re determined to take the road to health, these powerful weight loss tips are for you. You may or may not have heard of this before but these are essential if you want to start your journey of fat reduction right. These can also be helpful for those who have already reached their ideal body weight and want to maintain it.

The first powerful tip to losing weight is eating right. A lot of people think that conscious dieting is not really necessary when they exercise regularly. This is an inaccurate perception. Without a nutritious and well-balanced food intake, it?s difficult to lose weight. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains in their most natural states are ideal compared to the same food that have been prepared with additional ingredients that only serve to fatten those who eat them. Processed sugary and salty items should be removed from your grocery list as well.

A diet that?s comprised mainly of plant-based food is a diet rich in fiber, a well-known fat blocker. Fiber basically absorbs the fat and sugars you eat and releases them to your system slowly. In many cases, they don?t even release some of the other fats it has absorbed but gets simply passed out of your system. To help you lose weight, strive to eat about 50 grams of fiber per day.

Another powerful weight loss tip as far as food is concerned is something that might be cumbersome to do. However, it creates a sense of accountability on your part and have been proven time and again to help those who are still starting their weight loss regimen to stay on track. This is to record the food you eat-every single morsel.

Doing this allows you to see what you have consumed and will point out the times when you have failed to stick by your healthy eating habits. When you are able to pinpoint the reason why you had overeaten at a particular time, you are placed in a much better position to avoid it next time.

To balance things, you?d also be better off keeping an exercise diary of what you have done for that day. Like a food diary, an exercise diary keeps you accountable. But it also allows you to see your progress and give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done.

As a final word, cardio exercises are not enough to help you lose weight. High intensity interval training should be incorporated into your workouts whenever possible. Strength training for at least 30 minutes two times a week also fast tracks your weight loss and tones your muscles.

Lastly, don?t forget to check out our comprehensive P90X review and this post on the Hip Hop Abs DVD workouts.

Web Designer Magazine ZZZ ? Blog Archive ? Web Design Secrets ...

Ever since businesses realized that the Internet the ultimate resource to reach more people in less time for less than most other marketing mediums, business owners have been asking how can I get my business online and thus in the global marketplace. This question was answered with many solutions to include ?my son took a web class in school, he can do it?. Well let?s look at the seven different ways to put your business online and the pros and cons of each.

Do It Yourself
The first way would be the obvious, to do it yourself. If you have technical knowledge and time on your hands then this is a great way to put up a site that suite your business.

Pros:

? Save money by not paying someone else to do it for you

? Maintain full control of your site

? Sense of pride in what you have accomplished

Cons:

? Many business owners lack the technical knowledge to effectively develop all the necessary components of their web site.

? Many business owners lack the knowledge of how to write effective web copy that encourage sales as well as will be optimized for search engine. They are not versed in layout designs that increase accessibility and functionality.

? They do not have hours invest in research, development and implementation of a business web site due to they must run their business so they put together a rush project.

? Many business owners do not know how to effectively market the site after the design.

Results:

In most cases the results are the business owner builds a site that brings no results. The site is a creation that only the owner appreciates. Due to the lack of expertise and time they miss many critical elements in their site. So though the price was not much more than registration of a domain name, purchasing of software, hosting fees and time, it cost the owner thousands in loss time and sales.

Friends and Family
Many business owners have friends and family that have some web design experience but few have people in their circle that have a full understanding of developing a business site and how it interacts online.

Pros:

? The price of designing the site will be minimal

? You have someone with some technical knowledge to design and maintain your site

? You have a personal bond with the designer

Cons:

? Since this is for a friend or family and is not a high paying or no paying job many friends and family take their time and do not put the same effort if it were a full paying job.

? The knowledge of the friend of family may not be much more than the business owner so the development of good copy and functional design will be lacking.

? After the design is complete the job is done. There are no further marketing of the site.

Results:

In most cases the results are the same as the results of if the business owners would have done it themselves. With out the expertise in web design and Internet marketing the site brings no results thus waste valuable time and money.

Templates and Site builders

Templates and template driven site builders are the newest trend in web design. There are numerous sites that business owners can go to and download a template or go through an easy step by step process which will put them online in a matter of minutes.

Pros:

? Usually low priced and sometimes comes with hosting

? Fast design turn around time. You can have your site up the same day

? Visually appealing design that is structured properly by a professional designer

? Easy to put in your information and publish

? You have control over the site and can freely make changes

Cons:

? Nonexclusive- This means that you will not have a unique site. You will have a site that looks just like many of your competitors. Being in business you know how important it is to be unique. *Some template designers will offer exclusive rights for a nominal fee.

? You must provide sales copy

? They do not optimize the site for your company

? There are not means of getting targeted customers to come to your site after the design is published.

Results:

The results tend to be slightly better with template driven sites due to the web site layout is visually appealing and structure is functional. The challenge is still to get people to come and by from your site. This still is placed on the ability of the business owner.

Directories

Many business owners rely on online directories to place their contact information and a brief description of what they offer. This is fairly inexpensive but you are relying on the merit that that site has many visitors interested in your offering and you have little competition on that site.

Freelancer or Employee

Many businesses have an employee dedicated to tend to their webmaster needs. They work on salary and can perform many different functions within your organization. You can also have freelancers bid on your project and work within your budget. This is a very popular approach since the fall of http://dot.com. Many highly qualified designers are looking for work and will do a stand up job within your budget.

Pros:

? Knowledgeable professional working on your site within your budget

? Free up your time to do your business

Cons:

? Risk of how knowledgeable and dependable the freelancer is that is working with you on your site

? You will only get what was bided on within their skill set.

Results:

If you get a quality designer that is freelancing you will have a very quality web site. If you specify your needs and have the proper budget you should see some return on your investment.

Web Design Firm

Hiring a design firm that specializes in business development is a smart decision. They have the expertise and focus on developing you a web site for your business that is geared to accomplish your goals.

Pros:

? Professional design team knowledgeable of how to develop a business site that sells.

? Free up your time to do your business

Cons:

? Risk getting a quality design firm that will do a quality job

? Some design firms will not be ethical after the payment

? Some design firms will leave your project to you to market after the design is complete

Results:

You will have a professionally designed site with the functional structure and components to generate business. If the design firm is quality it will be a higher closing rate once visitors come to your site. Many design firms have people versed in marketing that can give you tips on how to bring traffic to your site. This will be priced higher than the other methods but will bring higher results.

eMarketing Firm

The final way to get your business online is employing services from an eMarketing firm. These firms provide you an online solution customized to your business model which will include web development, online software application and Internet marketing. This typically is the most expensive out of the seven methods but it is the most complete solution for most business that needs an effective online presence.

Pros:

? Professional design team knowledgeable of how to develop a business site with sales copy, search engine optimization and a marketing strategy to generate targeted visitors to your site

? Free up your time to do your business

? Staff of experts that keep up with all the changes in the online marketplace

? You will have a marketing plan for your online strategy

Cons:

? Typically more expensive than the other methods

Results:

Once again you will have a professionally designed site with the functional structure and components to generate business. You will also have a marketing plan with strategies to generate business through your site. Return on Investment (ROI) is typically gained in a shorter period of time.

Conclusion

Many have been told the myth, ?Build a business web site and they will come?, which proved to fail many businesses eager to expand. To see how to put your business online with no cost you must first understand what cost means in contrast to price. Price defines the amount of purchase where cost represents the end result. To better explain this I will give you an example.

If you paid 0 for a web site that generates you no business in a year then how much did the site cost you?
If you paid 00 for the same site but that site brought you 0 a month for a year, how much did that site cost?
The first site cost you 0 after a year were the second site paid you 00 at the end of the year and cost you nothing. Actually the site paid you 0 for having it. Makes sense? The only guaranteed way to get a site for nothing (so to speak) is to have it built right as well as marketed to your targeted market the first time. So decide your method wisely.

Deere 3Q profit up 15 percent, outlook improves (AP)

Strong demand for Deere & Co.'s equipment pushed net income 15 percent higher in the third quarter profit and the company boosted its 2011 outlook Wednesday, but none of that appeared to satisfy investors.

Even after beating Wall Street expectations on both net income and revenue, shares slipped in early trading.

At least two analysts called Deere's outlook for the year only a modest improvement over already conservative predictions.

Deere has benefited from favorable exchange rates and price increases, but its was strong sales growth driving the third quarter. Equipment sales grew 49 percent outside of the U.S. and Canada. Sales rose 10 percent within the United States and Canada.

Deere generated $712.3 million, or $1.69 per share, in the quarter that ended July 31. That's up from $617 million, or $1.44 per share, in the same period last year.

The company, based in Moline, Ill., said revenue grew 22 percent to $8.4 billion in the quarter, up from last year's $6.84 billion.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected earnings per share of $1.67 on $7.52 billion revenue on average.

Part of the reason for the sell-off might be found in Japan's tsunami.

Credit Suisse analyst Jamie Cook said the Japanese tsunami proved to be a much smaller drag on earnings than expected. Earlier this year, Deere had predicted the Japanese disaster would hurt sales by $300 million, but Wednesday the company said the actual impact was about $70 million.

Cook said that the reduced impact from the tsunami bumped up Deere's third-quarter earnings by about 9 cents per share, and without that, Deere would have fallen short of Wall Street expectations.

Deere says its 2011 equipment sales should grow 25 percent over 2010 to $29.47 billion. That's up from a previous forecast for 20 percent growth. Analysts were expecting 2011 sales of $29.05 billion, according to a poll by FactSet.

The company also lifted its expectations on net income slightly, from $2.65 billion, to $2.7 billion, or about $6.40 per share.

Jefferies & Co. analyst Stephen Volkmann said in a research note that Deere's quarterly results were again good, but not great. And Volkmann said Deere's profit forecast for the rest of 2011 suggests a disappointing fourth quarter.

Deere's 2011 net income forecast is in line with Wall Street expectations, but that would mean fourth quarter results of about $1.39 per share that would fall about 5 cents per share short of expectations, Volkmann said.

Still, Chairman and CEO Samuel Allen said global trends in food, as well as demand for shelter and infrastructure, have provided positive signals going forward.

"We remain confident that these positive macroeconomic trends have staying power and should prove rewarding to the company and its stakeholders in the years ahead," Allen said.

But Allen also noted that the recent turmoil in financial markets and concerns about the health of the global economy have added some uncertainty to Deere's short-term outlook.

Deere's results offer an indication of how well farmers worldwide are doing. In addition to agricultural equipment, Deere makes construction and forestry equipment, such as backhoes, excavators, riding mowers and leaf blowers. But construction and forestry sales represent a small portion of Deere's business compared to its agricultural equipment.

Deere's shares declined 11 cents to $74.95 in early trading Wednesday.

Common Business Continuity Mistakes to Avoid

Any event that causes a disruption in business processes has the potential to harm the reputation of the company, the wellbeing of employees, and the business's bottom line. In order to avoid these problems, every company should have a disaster recovery plan in place for business continuity purposes. This process for resuming business after a disruptive event occurs could mean the difference between continued success and business failure. Even the most unlikely events should be accounted for if the company wants to salvage their reputation, uphold relationships with clients, vendors, and employees, and ultimately continue making money. In order to maximize the results of the plan, avoid some of these common mistakes:

?

Not Enough Analysis

One of the biggest mistakes that people make when creating an effective business continuity plan is that they rush through the analysis process.

In order for the plan to work, it is important to make sure all the bases are covered ? that means recognizing all potential risks, as well as identifying critical systems and employees. Performing a comprehensive analysis and capturing critical details is the first - and most important step in disaster recovery planning.

?

Not Enough Planning

These critical details must be communicated to the right people in order for the plan to be effective. Unless the plans are explicitly stated and every critical person knows their role, business continuity is not possible.

The only way to fill in the business gaps that result from disruptive events is through careful and thorough planning. If this process is done the right way, business owners will discover ways to streamline the company simply by gaining a better understanding of the minutia that goes on every day. This is yet another bonus of disaster recovery solutions.

?

Not Enough Testing

Businesses are constantly changing, so the business continuity plan must reflect that. The plan must be tested regularly in order to identify the ways in which these changes affect disaster recovery efforts. Part of the planning process is to make sure there is enough room in the budget to account for these tests. As gaps in the model are discovered, they must be changed accordingly, re-tested, and communicated to the right people. When it comes to creating a comprehensive strategy to take on any disastrous event, you can never be too thorough.
